Our Family Story

I live with my mother Ana in a narrow house stacked above the Douro, where laundry hangs across alleys and fado drifts up from restaurants below on Friday nights. Our family has been in Porto for generations — fishermen, port workers, teachers — and we carry that plainspoken hospitality forward. The city is steep, beautiful, and stubborn. When you stay with us, we will show you how to climb the hills without burning out, which pastel de nata shop opens earliest, and where to stand at sunset when you want silence instead of crowds. Our meals are simple and generous: soup, grilled fish, bread that must be bought fresh twice a day. We want to host travelers who listen as much as they talk. Porto rewards curiosity, and our home is a good place to begin.

Why We Host

After my father passed, we had an empty chair at the table that felt wrong. We want to welcome people again — new accents, new stories, the same warm soup at the center. Opening our home feels like the right way to keep that spirit alive.

Details

Check-in from 3pm. Many stairs — pack light if possible. Private room, shared bathroom, linens, towels, and WiFi included. Nights can be lively near the river on weekends. Checkout by 11am.
