Our Family Story
Our home is painted the color of marigolds, on a street in Jalatlaco where neighbors know each other's names and the smell of roasting chiles travels door to door. We are cooks first — my mother ran a comedor for years, and I grew up learning that food is how Oaxaca tells its story. When you stay with us, we will likely ask you to help toast ingredients for mole, even if you claim you cannot cook. You will visit the mercado with us and learn why the same herb has three names. We will share Zapotec traditions, Catholic feast days, and the way this city holds contradictions gracefully. Our house is full of textiles, pottery, and music. We do not perform culture for guests — we live it, and invite you in with honesty and a lot of laughter.
Why We Host
Oaxaca is one of the most visited cities in Mexico, but many travelers never meet the people who keep its food and crafts alive. We host because we want cultural exchange to benefit both sides — you leave with real knowledge, and our family stays connected to the wider world.
